Paragon SC-3 Kiln

Paragon Kilns. The Paragon SC(Silver Clay)-3 series kilns by Paragon are wonderful small jewelry kilns designed especially for the studio jeweler. The SC3 kiln is the perfect choice for metal clay artists working in silver, gold and bronze clays. You can do just about anything you can dream up with the SC3: fire metal clay, fuse dichroic glass, enamel silver and copper, fire and glaze bisque, co-fire gemstones, glass and metal clay, co-fire sterling silver and metal clay and more with the peace of mind that only a digitally controlled kiln can offer.

The SC kilns have a ceramic fiber interior with the heating elements embedded and protected within the fiber shell. This kiln, like all other models with a ceramic fiber interior has a maximum temperature of 2000F. (If you are planning to fire above 2000F, you might be interested in the Caldera kiln which has a brick interior and can be fired up to 2350F.)

If you are a lampworker, you may be interested in the Bead Door option that allows mandrels to be inserted into the kiln while preserving the interior temperature.

If you plan to fuse glass or fire enamels, the Viewport option will allow you to watch the progress of your work. The Viewport is rated to 1700F, but can be plugged with fiber blanket for higher temperature firings to protect the ceramic glass.

We also offer a model with both the Bead Door and Viewport window options, and replacement doors are available should you decide to add on later.

The heart of the kiln is the reliable Sentry Xpress 3-button digital controller with 5 speed settings and 4 program settings. The speed settings are single segment ramp/hold programs. A single segment ramp/hold program is a lot simpler than it sounds; it simply heats to a target temperature, holds that temperature for the specified amount of time and then shuts itself off.
